The market for wind-generated energy storage is showing signs of coming to life. Two companies, WindTamer Corporation and Xtreme Power, have recently landed contracts to deliver their battery storage systems to customers.
WindTamer picked up a $319,000 order to deliver its custom-designed battery storage system, which includes real time monitoring to smooth power demand on the electric grid, to PGM Corporation, a New York contract manufacturer of precision parts and assemblies for the power generation, military, aerospace and other industries. WindTamer’s proprietary system is designed to store energy from wind, solar installations or from the grid itself.
